Host a Community Event
We welcome the support of community members who take it upon themselves to host an event to benefit Someplace Safe. By choosing Someplace Safe as a beneficiary of your upcoming event, you not only raise much needed funds, but also bring awareness to your community about the help available for those affected by violence.
If you wish to host your own community event, please:
- Check out the Frequently Asked Questions,
- Read and print a copy of our Community Event Guidelines
- Complete and submit the Event Host Agreement Form

Examples of Community Events
- Host a Cell Phone Drive: Donations of both working and broken cell phones are accepted
- Host a Themed Drive: Themed drives (diaper drives, toiletry drives) help Someplace Safe keep needed items in stock
- Birthday parties or other celebrations: Ask people to bring a donation in addition to or instead of gifts
- Incorporate a fundraiser into lesson plans about community giving
- Create a competition between classes or departments to see who can raise the most money
- Collect donations during meetings
- Choose a day or event at your business where a portion (or all!) of the proceeds are given to Someplace Safe
All hosted community event requests will be considered individually. Generally the following events/campaigns WILL NOT be approved:
- Events/campaigns that promote or condone exploitation and/or violence or violent behavior.
- Events/campaigns falling in close proximity to a Someplace Safe event.
- Events/campaigns that rely heavily on the use of, or that require significant attendance from, Someplace Safe staff and/or volunteers.
- Events/campaigns that require significant response from the Someplace Safe mailing list to generate the majority of the event’s revenue.
- Events/campaigns involving the sale of tickets or merchandise on the “remit or return” plan, or one that employs salespeople on a commission basis.
