Thrift Store Volunteer Opportunities

The store could not survive without the support of our numerous volunteers! We have some who volunteer one day a week, and some who come in once and a while. If you or your group are interested in helping at our Thrift Store, please stop by the store or call 320-763-4677 today!

Store Assistance

• In-Store Support: Stocking shelves, pricing items and general cleaning of store.
• Window Displays: Update and arrange store-front window displays.
• Donation Sorter: Pick up and/or sort donations, clean and prepare for sale.
• Truck Availability: Provide a pick-up truck to assist in moving donations. (Especially needed!)

Customer Service and Administrative Support

• Customer Support: Assist and greet customers in a friendly manner, assist customers in locating merchandise.
• Phone Support: Answer calls, refer calls to appropriate individuals, and take messages.
• Staff Assistant: Assist with data entry, assist staff in maintaining information for reporting, make copies and perform general office duties as assigned.
• Go-for: Run errands for store as needed and/or assigned.

Donations and Support

• Direct fundraiser: Solicit items and resources from local individuals and businesses as assigned.
• Community Awareness: Distribute brochures, posters and flyers as assigned.

Maintenance Support

• Maintenance Assistant: Painting and assisting with store repairs and upkeep.

Employment

The Thrift Store partners with various agencies within the community to provide on-the-job training and professional mentoring. Not only does it help to boost the skills and confidence of the worker, but it also provides additional staffing for the store at no cost to Someplace Safe. Primarily, we have partnered with Experience Works and the Workforce Center (Rural CEP and Vocational Rehabilitation divisions).
