What is the Parenting Time Center?
Parenting Time Centers are safe & neutral locations used for safe exchanges & supervised parenting time.
The Parenting Time Center is a program of Someplace Safe.
What are Safe Exchanges?
Exchanges are for families where children need to be exchanged between parents, usually for weekends.
PTC staff facilitate the physical exchange of children between parents. While at PTC, parents have no contact and are in separate areas. Staff walk children from one parent to the other, eliminating any opportunity for parents to see or talk to one another.
What is Supervised Parenting Time?
Supervised parenting time (visitation) is for families where parents cannot be with the children unsupervised. Visits are scheduled by PTC staff for set dates and durations, with staff present to observe and document what takes place at each visit.
What will we do while at the Parenting Time Center?
Each center has toys, games and lots of other things to help make your time there comfortable and fun. Depending on the arrangements of your visit, you may be able to enjoy snacks or meals while you are there as well. This time is meant for parents to interact and connect with their children, and PTC staff encourages this.
What do I need to do to begin services though the Parenting Time Center?
-
Call to arrange an intake interview.
Contact the Parenting Time Center location where you would like to have services to arrange an intake interview. We currently operate centers in Fergus Falls, Perham, Glenwood, Morris and Ortonville, MN.
Please leave your full name and a phone number where you can be reached on our voicemail if staff is unavailable, and we will return your call.
- Complete intake interview and tour.
For your intake you will need:
- Copies of any court orders pertaining to your time with your children.
- Current driver’s license or government issued photo ID if you will be transporting children.
- $15 intake fee
You will also tour the Parenting Time Center at this time. This is your opportunity to go over policies and
proceedures with staff, as well as ask any questions you may have. If setting up supervised parenting time,
you are encouraged to bring along your children, if possible, to familiarize them with the center before their
first visit.
3. Confirm your first scheduled appointment.
Your family will not be scheduled until all parties intakes are completed. Parenting Time Center staff will
contact you to confirm your first appointment. If staff leaves a phone message for you to call back to confirm
the date and time, you will need to call Parenting Time Center and inform us you agree to the appointment.
If we don’t hear from you, there is no appointment.
